Juliana’s First Birthday Session | Lakeshore Park, Harriman, TN | HL Photos

Some sessions come down to perfect timing, and this one was a great reminder of that!

The forecast called for rain all day, and I fully expected we might need to reschedule. But we managed to sneak in Juliana’s first birthday session at Lakeshore Park in Harriman while the sun was still shining, and the rain held off until right after we finished! A little bit of luck and good timing made for a beautiful, sunny session despite the forecast.

Meeting Juliana and Her Family

This was my first time meeting this sweet family, and like many one-year-olds meeting a camera and a new face for the first time, Juliana was a little shy at first. She wasn’t quick to hand out smiles in the beginning, but she warmed up beautifully as the session went on. I especially loved the big smiles during the moments she got to interact with mom and dad. Some of my favorite images from this gallery are the ones where her parents are right there with her, since that’s when her personality really started to shine through!

Celebrating One Year

To celebrate Juliana turning one, her family brought along a number one balloon and a sweet crown with her name on it. She wore the cutest little pigtails with blue bows, which added such a sweet, personal touch to her portraits. We captured her with her crown and with letters spelling out “ONE,” along with a sweet moment of her sitting with mom and dad on a box also decorated with “ONE” letters to mark the occasion.

A Mix of Family and Solo Portraits

Throughout the session, we captured a nice variety of images, including mom and dad smiling at Juliana, mom holding her with a big smile, and dad sweetly kissing her. We also captured all three of them smiling at the camera together, along with a playful moment of mom and dad swinging Juliana in their arms.

For Juliana’s solo portraits, we used a rocking chair at the park for a few sweet poses, including a close-up, along with a side profile portrait that captured her sweet little features beautifully.

Capturing First Birthdays in Harriman and Knoxville

Sessions like Juliana’s are some of my favorites to photograph. First birthdays are such a meaningful milestone, marking a full year of growth, and getting to capture that mix of personality, shyness, and warmth on camera is something families treasure for years to come.
