Some sessions feel extra special because of the history behind them, and this one is exactly that.

I’ve known Corie almost my entire life, so getting to photograph his growing family has been such a meaningful experience for me. Corie and his wife, Briget, are expecting their second baby, a little girl, and we celebrated this milestone with a maternity session at Melton Hill Park in Knoxville.

We couldn’t have asked for better light for this session. The golden hour glow at Melton Hill Park gave every image a warm, soft quality that felt perfectly suited for celebrating this next chapter for their family.

A Family of Three, Soon to Be Four

Right now, the Nix family includes their son, Henry, who is going to make the best big brother. Throughout the session, I could tell just how excited he is to meet his new little sister. We captured Henry laughing freely, along with a sweet portrait of him smiling at the camera with his hand resting on mom’s baby bump, a simple gesture that says so much about the bond he already has with his sister before she’s even arrived.

Celebrating the Newest Addition

Of course, a big part of this session was celebrating mom’s baby bump and the new life it represents. We captured close-up portraits of Briget’s baby bump, along with a quiet, tender moment of her looking down and cradling it. One of my favorite images from the whole session is a close-up of everyone’s hands together on mom’s bump, Henry’s included. It was a beautiful way to capture the whole family’s anticipation for this new arrival.

Capturing the Whole Family Together

We rounded out the session with several family portraits, including the whole family walking together, a wider shot of them holding hands, and a sweet portrait of everyone smiling at the camera. We also captured the family sitting together on a swing and some quiet moments of just Corie and Briget. It was so sweet to capture these meaningful moments between the two of them amid the excitement of welcoming their second child.

Capturing Maternity Milestones in Knoxville

Getting to document this family’s journey, especially with the personal connection I have with Corie, made this session feel incredibly special. Maternity sessions like this one are such a meaningful way to celebrate the anticipation and love already surrounding a baby before they even arrive.
