Manning’s Newborn Session | Knoxville Newborn Photography by HL Photos

Some families you get to watch grow right before your eyes, and this one holds a special place in my heart.

I first met this sweet family almost three years ago, when I photographed their daughter Tenley as a newborn in the hospital. Getting to capture those very first hours with Tenley was special on its own, so when her mom reached out to let me know they were expecting again, I couldn’t wait to meet the newest addition to their family!

Welcoming Baby Manning

This time around, we celebrated Manning’s arrival with a studio newborn session, and it did not disappoint! Manning gave us a little bit of everything during his session, from peaceful sleepy poses to wide-eyed, alert moments full of personality. Getting a mix like that in one gallery is always a treat, since it captures both sides of those very first days. I loved the quiet stillness and the curious little glimpses of who he’s already becoming.

We photographed Manning solo in a soft blue swaddle with a matching sleeping cap, along with a sweet portrait featuring a little blue heart prop. We also changed things up with an adorable orange overall outfit and matching cap, and made sure to capture a close-up detail shot of his tiny feet in that outfit too. Those tiny detail shots are some of my favorite parts of any newborn session. They capture just how small babies are during this stage, a detail parents always treasure looking back.

A Family of Four

Of course, no newborn session is complete without family portraits, and this one gave me some of my favorites yet! We captured Manning with mom and dad together, plus individual portraits of Manning with just his dad and just his mom, each one showing a different side of that new parent-baby bond.

But the portraits that melted my heart the most were the ones with Manning and his big sister, Tenley. Now almost three years old, Tenley is already completely smitten with her baby brother. Watching her gentle curiosity and pure love for Manning during their portraits together was such a sweet reminder of why I love what I do. Getting to photograph Tenley as a newborn and now watch her become a big sister herself feels like such a full-circle moment.

And of course, we included in the session, portraits of all four family members together, a beautiful new addition to their family’s story.

Capturing Growing Families in Knoxville

Sessions like Manning’s are exactly why I love being a Knoxville newborn photographer. Getting to know families over the years, watching siblings grow, and documenting each new addition to the family is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
